Survivor Scotland funding supports a major project with male prisoners,  survivors of childhood abuse with complex trauma at Addiewell Prison, West Lothian. Neil Howell RDMP is the therapist delivering this project, working closely with the Mental Health Team and the Consultant Psychiatrist there, management support from Susan and external clinical supervision.  Moving Forth aim to develop this project to reach male and female prisoners who are surviving trauma as a result of childhood abuse, including complex conditions.  We are working closely with the Mental Health team to provide ongoing group work support for prisoners to gain skills in Mindfulness and relaxation.

Neil and Susan both hold qualifications in dance movement psychotherapy (MCAT, MSc DMP) and trauma therapy Level 1 in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute).  They have named their particular style of therapy Sensorimotor Movement Therapy (SMT). Neil undertakes ongoing training in Brain Spotting and other proven cutting edge trauma treatments to add effectiveness to the main SMT model.
