Pre-requisites: On entry to this programme it is valuable to have some prior knowledge and experience of  Laban Movement Analysis taught from the perspective of Bartenieff’s Principles and Themes (minimum 20 hours).  Equally, a solid knowledge and experiential understanding of Anatomy & Kinesiology (minimum 20 hours) will support and benefit your studies. There is a written application followed up with a Skype interview.

This LIMS accredited Modular programme aims to attract students from a range of professions e.g. Human Resources managers, Allied Health professionals, Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Pilates, Feldenkrais and Alexander practitioners, dancers, Dance Movement Therapists, Teachers and specialist Support Workers engaged with adults and children with additional support needs, Architects, Landscape Architects, Musicians, Coaching practitioners, Counsellors and many others.

Important Notice: The Krakow programme will be taught in English.  There will be no translator. Applications must also be made in English and each applicant’s proficiency in English will be assessed during the Skype interview.

Cost: Module fees will vary to reflect the changing financial climate, but we aim to keep costs in line with other CMA programmes in Europe and US.

NB - Further Modules are scheduled to run depending on sufficient applications.

Module 1 can be undertaken as a stand-alone module for those not wishing to train to level of teacher or analyst.  This module offers a broad and in-depth overview of the breadth and depth of the Laban/Bartenieff’ framework, addressing different applications and identifying future study pathways for each student.

Introduction to Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies

October 11th/12th 2014   10 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day

Venue: G25, Edinburgh Palette @ St. Margaret’s House, London Road, Edinburgh

Alexandra Baybutt CMA* & Susan Scarth CMA RDMP** will co-facilitate their 4th 2 day course introducing Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) & Bartenieff Fundamentals (BF)  - a total of 12 hours learning. These workshops are designed for everyone who knows that understanding human nonverbal expression and interaction is important to their work and play.

This course will explore the complexities of nonverbal communication through the system developed by Rudolf Laban and Irmgard Bartenieff. Participants will learn through doing and gain a keener awareness of how they use their own movement to express themselves in the world and in relationship to others.

The 2 workshop days will introduce  and clarify the essence of this highly sophisticated and relevant body of knowledge.

On completion of the course you will receive a record of attendance of 12 hours Continuous Professional Development.
